The LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Camera and Video Recorder is Leaping Ahead of the Competition
Leapster is well known for their high quality digital products for children and the LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Camera and Video Recorder lives up to that high standard. Not only is it a digital camera, but it is also a video recorder, and much, much more. This is a toy that your children will love, and making it more than worth the price of this little gadget.
Leapster Explorer Camera and Video Recorder is an Add-On to Leapster
The first thing that serves mentioning though when it comes to this digital camera is that it requires you to already have the handheld Leapster Explorer device. This isn’t a camera all on its own, but more of an add-on to an already great system.
The Leapfrog Camera Takes Awesome Pictures!
The picture quality with this item is exceptional. It actually rivals that of adult cameras! Your children will be more than proud of their photographic skills when they see the pictures they have taken. The only draw back in regards to picture quality is the fact that this camera does not come with a zoom function or a flash, but when taking pictures in well lit areas, this camera out performs any other children’s digital camera on the market, and it does all of that at a price that cannot be beat.
There are also a great many additions to this camera, things like activities and photo editing opportunities that will keep your little ones busy for many hours.
Unlike other cameras for children, this one also includes all the important pieces, like the software as well as a USB cord to take the pictures from the camera to the computer. If your little photographer had a blast taking the photos, they’ll only be more excited when they discover all the neat things that they can do with those photos on the computer.

Any Downsides to the Leapfrog Digital Camera?
There are only few minor downsides to this camera. One is the fact that it is not easy for a child to attach or detach this accessory all on their own. It requires a screwdriver to remove a part of it before it can be connected, but once that is done it really is quite simple to use, and your little one will love and enjoy being able to scribble on photos and do all sorts of other things to them as well.
Another little issue is that after adding this add-on you will not be able to put it into the carry case until it’s removed. It uses the same port as the recharger accessory, so if you have both you’ll need to remove that to use the Leapster camera.
You can store up to 1000 photos with the Leapfrog camera, but another minor issue that you might want to know about is that you can’t take too many videos since the memory is not that large. And finally, the last minor issue is that microphone is on the front of the camera so if your child is talking while recording it might be a little hard to hear. That’s pretty much it. It’s as close to perfection as you can get.

If you’re looking for a very affordable, great quality digital camera for your little one, the LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Camera and Video Recorder should be one of the top picks on your list.
